About Me

I am a passionate education consultant working in partnership with large school districts in the preparation, coaching, and training of educators in best practices to support their core instruction. My specialty lies in a deep understanding of the science of reading and how that affects overall academic achievement and confidence in students from elementary to high school.

My teaching experience ranges from the primary grades, where reading to learn is in full swing, to the secondary level where hormones and attitudes are raging but where students finally ‘get it‘ as to why their education is important.

Although no longer in the day-to-day throws of the classroom, I am fortunate to get opportunities to model lessons and design instructional plans that maximize collaboration and engagement. All of the posts I write are reflections and anecdotes of my personal experiences and based on a pedagogy that I find is continually challenged and changing.

Beyond crafting and delivering professional development, I design creative and cutting edge curriculum resources and mentor newbie teachers who are venturing into the world of education for the first time, searching for their moral purpose in making a difference in the lives of students.

In my down time, I enjoy working on my TBR pile, this year’s challenge of reading 23 in 2023, and the tireless toil of illustrating the children’s book I’ve recently completed: “The Splendid Spark”. I’m looking forward to launching its release this year!
